CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS
From childhood to teenagehood, and into adulthood, we need
specific amounts of protein and calcium to grow: it is during
this very important stage of life that the skeleton is in
the process of being built (known as the formation of the
bodys bone reserves) and that muscular tissues are developing.
It is very important to ensure that our daily intake of calcium
and protein is sufficient.

Recommended nutritional requirements for the French
population - (Tec & Doc Lavoisier 2000)
Equivalents:
600mg of calcium = 1/2
litre of semi-skimmed milk or 50g of
Régilait skimmed milk or 4 yoghurts or 60g of
gruyère cheese or 600g of fromage blanc
(soft white cheese)
1285 mg of calcium =
1 litre of milk or 100g of Régilait
skimmed milk
However, not all children like
drinking milk (and this is even more often the case for teenagers!).
With Régilait, its easy: all you have to do is
to add a few tablespoons of powdered milk (preferably semi-skimmed
or whole milk), to their mashed potatoes, baked dishes, or
soup! Thats enough to give them the extra boost of calcium
and protein that they need.
Its just as easy for desserts, simply use condensed,
sugar-free milk instead of liquid milk in all your recipes
(flans, creamy desserts, rice puddings, semolina, etc.), or
add a spoonful or two of powdered milk as well as liquid milk
to instantly increase the calcium and protein content of your
meals. They will be even more delicious!
At tea time, why not let your children indulge in milk shakes
or introduce them to the delights of the flavoured strawberry
or mint-flavoured milk of our childhood? Success is guaranteed!
There are also many great recipes using condensed milk with
added sugar, which young and old alike will appreciate. Ideas
for desserts or tea time snacks: find
them under our recipe heading
