VITAMINS
Vitamins are calorie-free elements
which the body needs to function properly since they play
an essential role in all stages of metabolism: enzyme reactions,
energy production, cell functioning, etc
we need to top
up our resources of vitamins daily by eating a healthy diet
since they are not stored in the body.
Milk contains practically
all known vitamins, except vitamin K :
- Fat-soluble vitamins (soluble in lipids,) are found in milk
fats and are therefore only present in whole and semi-skimmed
milk :
VITAMIN A :
the main vitamin found in whole and semi-skimmed milk. This
is the vitamin that improves night vision
VITAMIN D : particularly
present in whole milk: it helps the absorption of calcium
VITAMIN E
: a vitamin that has anti-ageing properties: it protects our
cells from the harmful effects of free radicals.
- Hydrosoluble vitamins: (soluble
in water, and consequently contained in the non-lipid part
of milk), and present in whole milk as well as semi-skimmed
and skimmed milk..
VITAMINS in group B:
B1, B2, B5, B6, B9 (folic acid) and B12: are involved in a
lot of metabolic functions: energy production, cell protection,
etc..
VITAMIN C
: a very effective anti-fatigue vitamin
